Min syster och jag har bestämt att vi idag får ge julklappar till vem som helst bara de är handgjorda. Så nu har jag börjat fundera på vad männen kan tänkas vilja ha. Och då blir det mössor.
Problemet är att många av männen runt mig - och en del kvinnor - tycker att ull sticks. Och det får man ju respektera. Så jag fick in på Deisy design och diskuterade om det fanns något garn som kunde fungera ändå.
Big Merino var idén. Jag valde den djupblå nyansen 17.
Sedan var det så att det inte fanns tillräckligt med roliga mönster så jag fick gå till andra mönster i garngrupp C.
Nu har jag blivit påmind om Stickpodden att detta med garngrupper inte är skrivet i sten. Så jag lade efter att ha testat med vad som stod i mönstret istället upp 96 maskor på stickor 4. Rejält stor skillnad alltså. Men det ska ju bli en ganska tajt mössa, så det är nog rätt.
Mössan blir inte riktigt densamma som i mönstret, men måtten som står angivna på längden är användbara. Avmaskningen ska nog bli annorlunda också.
Jag har dessutom provat mässan ett antal gånger på min make för att få omkretsen rätt. Den motvillige provaren. Det är så snällt att ställa upp på femtioelva provningar av någon annans julklappsmössa, när man egentligen inte vill. Och när det kliar, Big Merino till trots. Tack!

So I'll just blog in Swedish, since no one has objected to this in the question in my last blog post.
My sister and I have decided that we are allowed to give Christmas gifts to anyone this year, if the gifts are handmade. So now I've started thinking about what men might want for the holidays. The answer is caps.
The problem is that many of the men around me - and some women - consider wool itchy. Which one must respect. So I went to Deisy design and discussed with the seller whether there was a yarn that would work even for these guys.
Drops Big Merino was the answer, and I chose the deep blue colour no. 17.
There were not enough fun designs for this yarn, though, so I had to go look at other patterns in yarn group C at Drops.
I have been reminded by Stickpodden that yarn groups is not something that guarantees a one-to-one correspondence. So after testing the pattern, I instead cast on 96 stitches on needles 4. Rather a big difference from what was in the pattern. But this is supposed to be a pretty tight cap, so it's probably right.
The pattern that I knit will not be quite the same as the one in the pattern, but the measurements for length in the pattern are useful. The decreases will probably be different too.
I have also got my husband to try the cap on a fair number of times to get the right circumference. The Reluctant tester he is. It 's so nice of him to agree to umpteen tests of someone else's Christmas cap, when you do not really want to. And when it itches, despite the Big Merino soft wool. Thank you, my love!

PS . Bought some more skeins to make two more hats yesterday. The yarn is so nice and the result is so nice.
