Så här på våren är det ju skönt om det smälter undan ordentligt och idag har jag äntligen tagit mig tid att testa det som på engelska kallas
fusing, att smälta gamla plastpåsar på tyg. Såhär trevligt kan det bli när man är klar:
At last I've taken some time to try fusing, melting plastic bags onto fabric. And look how nice it came out:

Du lägger ett bakplåtspapper på strykbrädan och sedan lägger du en bit av en kraftig plastpåse på det. Sedan lägger du tyget ovanpå, och eventuellt ett bakplåtspapper till. Du vill ju inte av misstag få plast på strykjärnet.
You put a baking paper on the ironing board and then place a bit of a strong plastic bag on it. Then add the fabric on top of the plastic, and possibly one more baking paper. You wouldn't want to accidentally get plastic on the iron, do you?
Stryk långsamt och testa först med en liten bit tyg och en bit av påsen. En del påsar är mindre bra för det här. Nettopåsen, i dubbla lager gav en trevlig blank och kraftig yta. De andra smälte mer in i tyget och blev lite matta.
Iron slowly and do test this the first with a small piece of cloth and a piece of the plastic bag. Some bags are less good for this. Using the Netto bag, in double-layers resulted in a nice shiny and sharp surface. The other more or less melted into the fabric and became a bit dull.
Jag märkte att jag fick bäst resultat om jag höll strykjärnet på en plats i några sekunder och sedan flyttade det till nästa plats. Plasten vill gärna dra ihop sig, vilket inte alltid blir snyggt, eftersom tyget blir skrynkligt då.
I noticed that I got the best results when I kept the iron in one place for a few seconds and then moved it on to the next spot. The plastic kind of likes to tighten, which is not always neat, because the fabric then may become wrinkled.
Nettoväskan var bara en liten test, och lite slarvigt sydd, men den var nästan den roligaste.
The Netto bag was just intended to be a small test, and the sewing is not completely perfect, but I think I like it the best anyhow.
